New York Physician and Hospital Organizations Call on Legislature to Include Telehealth Payment Parity in Final Enacted Budget for FY 2022-23
On Tuesday, MSSNY released a joint statement from New York physician and hospital organizations to the press calling on the Legislature to include telehealth payment parity in the final enacted budget for FY 2022-23.

In an interview last night with WRGB-TV/CBS Albany, MSSNY president Dr. Joseph Sellers said telemedicine has been the one positive to come out of the pandemic.

“We’ve learned how to meet patients where they’re at with telemedicine,” said Dr. Sellers. “We’ve learned how to help people who are homebound, rural….we’ve also found how we can help when it’s snowing and icy. They don’t have to go to the doctor. The doctor comes to them virtually.”

Dr. Sellers pointed out that telemedicine is an essential tool to keep people connected to their primary care physicians and to improve timely access to specialists and that the current system allows people to take advantage of tele visits without any governing agency telling them where they have to go.
